I’m Jonathan “JC” Chan and I’m an experienced marketer and content strategist looking for a challenging and creative environment to further develop my own skills by helping others achieve their marketing goals.

Head of Marketing
As Insane Growth’s Head of Marketing, my main responsibility was overseeing the development and execution of a growth strategy centred around content marketing, PPC advertising, SEO, and joint ventures.
In my time there I was extremely fortunate to work with and learn directly from Mitch Harper, 8x founder and co-founder of Big Commerce. Through his guidance I was able to further develop my skills around marketing strategy, content creation, and brand management.
Successfully growing Insane Growth’s monthly website traffic from 10,000 to 40,000 monthly visits in six months. I achieved this through developing a strict editorial calendar and process, building an SEO strategy around backlinking and keyword optimization, and consistently publishing long-form content.
Launching the “Keys to Scale” content series. As part of our long-term growth strategy, I launched a successful podcast series where I was able to interview the likes of Scott Belsky of Adobe, Phin Barnes of First Round Capital, and Abigail Forsyth of KeepCup to name a few.
Consistently publishing 3 x high-value, long-form articles a month. The articles I published were in-depth guides on topics such as joint ventures, LinkedIn marketing, and Facebook advertising, with some articles reaching up to 9,000+ words! These articles have since received tens of thousands of views and shares.

Developing high-quality content for a variety of publications. During my time as a freelance consultant, I regularly wrote for a variety of company blogs and publications such as Quickbooks, Copper, and Single Grain to name a few.
Drastically increasing brand awareness and exposure for small business clients. A key service I offered to my clients was to help them craft a strategy to increase their level of brand awareness. One notable example was with Classe Petit, where I developed a PR strategy where they were featured in multiple local publications such as Weekend Notes, Broadsheet, and Inside Small Business.
As a freelance consultant, I was given the opportunity to work with and consul for businesses like Quickbooks, Single Grain, Grow & Convert, Copper, Interact, Classe Petit, and Kapiche.
My experience as a freelance consultant allowed me to develop critical skills such as time-management, self-motivation, outbound marketing, and account management.

I joined on as the first official employee for Foundr and in my time I either supervised or was directly involved in a wide variety of projects and initiatives that led to Foundr growing into the internationally recognised brand it is today.
Thanks to Foundr I was able to establish the foundational skills that continue to serve me today. These skills include, but are not limited to, content creation, event management, community moderation, brand development, product development, and strategic marketing.
Developing and executing the strategy behind Foundr’s Kickstarter campaign. Beyond leading the project to product Foundr’s first ever physical product, I wrote and helped design the sales Kickstarter page and it’s accompanying sales pages. In the end, we generated over $200,000 in pre-sales for the book and quadrupled our original goal of $50,000.
Increasing monthly traffic to 50,000 monthly visits, raising Domain Authority to 48, and growing email list to 250,000 within two years. Through the content strategy I developed with Nathan, founder of Foundr, we were able to drastically increase Foundr’s level of brand exposure, number of qualified leads, and sales.
Playing a key role in the development and execution of a $1 million product launch. During my time at Foundr, I played an instrumental role in a variety of successful product launches but none more so than Instagram Domination online course which generated $1 million in sales within a week.
Responsible for leading a diverse team of writers, editors, graphic designers and assistants. By the time I left Foundr, I was responsible for managing, leading and co-ordinating our growing team of over a dozen content creators, editors and designers on a variety of marketing campaigns and projects.
